The Planning Game

The planning game requires
An array of greedy power brokers
Who have sworn not to obstruct progress
As defined by those who steal
Land grants

The rules are made of plastic
With limited flexibility to bend
Not break

The so-called planning process
Includes reinventing a wheel of fortune
To line the pockets of the few
At the expense of the many

Power and control
Are placed in the center
Of a pre-defined map
Close to those with a history
Of slight of hand
Slick, politically savvy racqueteers
Who roll loaded dice
And point loaded guns
To determine who gets what

In the end
A dejected group of power players
Will be ejected from the game
Left out with nothing to gain
Manipulated again
Tearfully they will shake
Limp fists
And cry out in shame
“Wait till the next election!”
